Baby Animal Days

Each spring in Logan they have a weekend event called Baby Animal Days. This year the weather decided it wasn't quite ready for spring, so it decided to snow and rain for a few days straight. Because of that, Baby Animal Days was extended an we were able to go! We weren't able to go until later in the evening, so almost everything was put away. BOO! Luckily for Nixon the only thing he cared about anyways was riding the CHOO CHOO! He was very content riding it again and again! In fact we ended up having to carry a crying baby to the car because all he wanted was that darn choo choo! ( He's got such mean parents!) Nixon was mesmerized by the animals for a few short seconds each, and then he was ready to climb back on board to the choo choo! He even got to blow the whistle which I think he thought was pretty dang cool!

Randomness

While in Nephi, we got into a 'grownup' conversation and lost track of what the little guy might be up to. I have Nixon and Ellie being two little monkeys jumping on Grandma's bed!

The kids all wanted a late night bowl of cereal, so my mom poured them each a bowl. Nixon was freaking out about something and no one was quite sure WHAT he wanted. After a few minutes of trying different things we realized he wanted his cereal WITHOUT the cereal. Milk only please!

Nixon is so lucky to have his little girly friend Gemma over to play with him a few days a week. Whenever she is not here I feel bad for the poor kid because he seems so lonely! He definitely LOVES Gemma, that's for sure!

There is two things Nixon seems to always be asking for these days, to go swimming or for ice cream. If we are driving down main street he knows where the ice cream places are because he will always start shouting "Ice Cream!". He also LOVES to swim, and the bathtub just doesn't cut it! Although, he is getting quite brave in the tub now and will lay on his back because he thinks he is swimming. (Mom, you'd be proud you back swimmer you!) Luckily for the cold winter months, (wait this is spring isn't it?) our gym has an indoor pool. The only bad thing is that the only thing Nixon wants to do the ENTIRE time we are swimming is shoot the ball in the basket. This requires Conner to lift him up over and over...and over seems how I am just not quite capable of that!

Yesterday I finally bucked up and faced the chilly weather that winter has left us and took Nixon on a little walk. I hate being cold. Period. So our walk was a quick stroll through the neighborhood and back home we went. I am getting so anxious for summer as is the rest of us I am sure! I am so ready to be outside more rather than being cooped up in our home all day everyday. It gets B.O.R.I.N.G! As for Nixon's hat, he insisted on wearing it that way...What Nixon wants, Nixon gets! ha!

A couple of days ago I put Nixon down for his nap, he cried for a good 15-20 minutes.  Most of the time he does well going right down, but sometimes he has he days where he fights it! I went up to his room because I thought maybe he would lay down in my bed and sleep with me. (This has never been done in nap time history). When I walked into his room I knew right away why he was crying instead of sleeping. He pooped. I felt AWFUL!!!! I changed his bum and got our big cozy blanket out and laid on the bed with him. Not more than two minutes later he was out cold. I felt SO bad that I just assumed he was being a stink because he didn't want to sleep, when really he was so extremely tired and all he wanted was a clean bum!! It broke my heart! At least we made history and took a nap together afterwords...that was fun! ;)

Now to leave with a bit more happier note...When I put Nixon down to bed at night (or for his nap) he will say, "arm". Now let me translate so you can understand, "arm" means "Fold your arms so we can pray!". Got it? Nixon now has his own little prayer that he will say every time with a few changes here and there. It makes me so happy! It is crazy how a 2 year old can be such a good example to us in our home. When we sit down to eat he will do the same thing, "arm!". :)
This is how his prayer usually goes, (in a Nixon voice of course)
"Heavenly father, day (thank you for this day), home (thank you for our home), daddy (Thank you for daddy), temple (thank you for the temple), Luke, 'nanner, Ellie, Bampa, Grandma, Pooper, Papa, 'Adden, 'inzy, 'ars, AMEN!"
Then he will yell..."KISS!" and ask for me to kiss him "gin (again)" over and over until I finally just have to call it quits and say goodnight to my sweet little baby boy!!

The Next Picasso

Our first attempt at finger paints was a major FAILURE. Nixon hands down does not like to be dirty! (or as he would say it..."a mess"!) I decided to go round two, but this time with Nixon's friend, Gemma. Gemma definitely wasn't afraid of getting her hands dirty! She was so funny! She kept putting paint on her eyes and cheeks (and everywhere else) and she would say "she is BEAUTIFUL!" Nixon on the other hand still was not excited about the idea of getting messy, so I decided to see if a paint brush would do the trick....and it did!!

Last night Conner got the paints out for Nixon again and by the end he actually had his HAND in the paint!!! He even wanted to paint his cheek and nose, as well mommy & daddy's  noses too!

I now know where Nixon gets his "anti-messy" attitude! Conner was NOT liking having paint on his face! He hated it and had to wipe it off rather quickly because he said ," I hate that feeling!" haha!

Conference Weekend

We spent last weekend in Nephi. It had been 2 months since we were last there and Nixon was super excited to see his cousins!! The guys had a little outing for Uncle Mike's birthday, so Linzy, Madden, my Mom, Nixon, and myself all met up at Aunt Kristy's house Friday night to have a sleepover! Uncle Tony translates Farsi for General Conference and they have a family friend from Iran (California now) who translates as well. So flew in and stayed at the Mortezazadeh's and made us a fine Persian meal! I am one of the worlds most pickiest eaters, but I gave it a go...for the most part!! It was a great night!

We met up with my sister, Kaydee, Saturday morning for some shopping. Nixon is no longer content just sitting in his stroller all day long. Dang! Luckily some of the stores we were in had crayons and coloring books for kids! Thank you, thank you!!! Nixon finally had enough and passed out in the stroller. I guess seven hours of shopping did him in! Everyone left the mall to go to Costco soon after he fell asleep, but I wasn't about to wake him up so I sat inside Macy's for a could 1 1/2!

I was going through some of my things at my parents and found a build-a-bear Conner and I did when we were dating. I couldn't resist....I had to try the boxers on my cute little nephew, Madden! He looked so dang cute with those chunky legs of his!

My parents gave Nixon his birthday present, I can tell already it is going to be a HIT! If only we get this dang snow melted!! My mom gave Nixon his 'Hot Rod' Saturday night, and since there was not much room in the house we took him outside to see if he could figure it out. He LOVED it!! He looks so stinking cute cruising on his new ride.I might be just as excited for it as he is!! Thanks Ma & Pa!

When we left for home Sunday night, Nixon would NOT take off his helmet that stays at Bampa and Grandmas! My dad insisted that we just let him take it.

As we were driving I kept asking Nixon if I could take it off but he would quickly respond with a loud "NO!". After about 20-30 minutes I just reached back and took it off, he wasn't happy but I didn't want him to fall asleep with it on. (Doesn't it seem uncomfortable!?) The only way I could make him okay with it is if I gave him his shades...

Oh and of course he had to throw in one of these....

For some reason, every time we drive in the car now (long distances) Nixon demands his feet being rubbed! This is the THIRD time I have had to hear him whine "Toe, Toe Toe!" until I awkwardly maneuver myself to rub his feet until he falls asleep. It gets quite uncomfortable, but if I don't do it he cries and cries! What a spoiled high maintenance little fart!!!

March 28th...

March 28th is a rather significant day in our little family because it was the day we welcomed our little guy Nixon into this crazy world! We had a little party the Sunday before and will also be having a family party next weekend. "We love to party...we love, we love to party! " Hopefully you sang the tune to that phrase and got some rhythm flowin'!
With the weather not being the greatest (besides TODAY), and Nixon still being too young to do much out there I was torn on what to do for his actual BIG day. Sadly, it wasn't to exciting...but to justify I am not sure he really new it was a day to celebrate or not! He did however get several phone calls throughout the day, and his Bampa kept reminding him of the presents that were waiting for him in Nephi! He would say, "presents, presents!!" (like mother like son!)
Nixon and I went to the Book Table where I wanted to buy some flashcards to help with his IQ. There was a Thomas the Train play station that he was instantly drawn to and the rest was history! I was able to walk around the upstairs of the store ( We think were the only one in there at the time) while Nixon played with the toys. Once in awhile I would hear him yell for "mama" just to make sure I didn't ditch him! I decided I would just let the guy roam free and do whatever his little heart desired. But, when it came time to leave he was not happy about it! The only thing that got him to leave was me buying him a stupid sword! I don't think the kid has any clue what a sword is, but he loves it!

After the Book Table we met up with Daddy to grab some grub. Nixon always get so excited to see his Dada!!

When Conner got home from work we took Nixon to Best Buy so he could pick out a movie. He went for Toy Story 3, the only problem is that he already has that movie! We had to wrestle him to get the movie away and try to force him into picking a new movie. After a few screaming episodes everything was just fine and he was happy with his Monster Inc.

Last stop was taking Nixon for some frozen yogurt at Spoon Me. I think he cared more about the cheesecake chunks than the ice cream because after he finished his own he went for Daddy's, and then mine! Little stink!

We finished the night off with Nixon opening up his presents from us and his family in Seattle. We were able to Skype with his Aunt Jamie, cousin Charlie, and Grandma Micci. I loved how each present he opened he would carry to the computer and lift it up for them to see! He is such a silly boy!

 Happy 2nd Birthday buddy!

Here are some more pictures of Nixon putting some of his presents to use the last couple of days. One of the things I got him was finger paints. I was so excited!! Quite the opposite from Nixon. Oh man it was a nightmare. As soon as I dipped his hand and feet in the paint to try to get him started he screamed BLOODY MURDER!!! He kept yelling for a wet wipe and would also keep asking for his Dada! I don't know what it is but this boy does NOT like his hands to be dirty! I guess I will try again next year!
